The Beacon has opened in Creative Village, adding 115 apartments for income-qualifying households near downtown Orlando.
The five-story community offers studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes, with 62 units already rented at the time of its opening.
The development adds an important affordable-housing component to the continuing transformation of the 68-acre Creative Village site in historic Parramore.
Its significance goes beyond one apartment building.
With education, employment, transit and public spaces already concentrated nearby, the project puts income-restricted housing closer to opportunities created by downtown's growth.
